Bioyield and biocontrol solutions

More than a century ago, Nitragin brought a leading product to the market, which remains a leader today. Nitragin, like many of our legacy companies, put innovation at the heart of their businesses—and Novozymes’ groundbreaking pipeline continues to propel agriculture into the future.

Our dynamic portfolio of biological solutions is derived from naturally-occurring microbes and enzymes. Microbial inoculants in our bioyield solutions complement traditional fertilizers, increasing the availability of key nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to boost crop yields. And our biocontrol solutions provide robust protection against soil and foliar diseases.

Novozymes BioAg: Doing more through the power of biology

Agriculture today isn’t just about doing more with less. It’s about doing it in a smart, sustainable way.

Like utilizing nature’s own problem solvers—enzymes and microbes—to maximize crop fertility, boost soil and fertilizer phosphorus efficiency, and meet crop nutrition requirements. Watch the video to learn more.

Feeding a growing world

To feed a projected 9.7 billion people by 2050, the world needs a sharp increase in agricultural production. However, from climate change to pests, a range of factors threaten agricultural output.

Getting more from every acre

Biosolutions are the key to producing more feed, food, and energy with the resources we already have. Today, one acre of US cropland can provide feed for the production of approximately 900 chickens.

The 2017 Novozymes Acre Study showed that adding biosolutions (enzymes and microbes) to the agricultural value chain would allow that same acre to continue feeding 900 chickens and, at the same time, provide 13 US gallons of biodiesel, 3 US gallons of starch-based ethanol, 32 pounds of protein-rich animal feed, 100 US gallons of cellulosic ethanol, and 230 kWh of electricity.

All while using less phosphorus and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
