  • High biosecurity

    Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is an FDA and EU ECHA-approved biocide for therapeutic use. It’s suitable for use on a wide range of aquaculture species and life cycle steps, and is effective against external parasites, bacteria fungi and other pathogens. That means it can treat a range of topical diseases, allowing for reduced antibiotic usage.

  • Highly effective therapeutic treatment, no impact on biofilter

    A two-step treatment with H2O2 and BioRas® Balance allows RAS facilities to benefit from H2O2 baths at therapeutic doses without impacting the biofilter. Step1: Close water from the rearing tanks off from the biofilter, apply therapeutic levels of H2O2 to rearing tank/ purge tank water. Step 2: Add a small dose of BioRas® Balance directly into the system.  Reopen the system in less than 10 minutes, as all residual H2O2 has been eliminated.

H2O2 is a simple compound of water with an extra oxygen molecule that naturally degrades to water and oxygen over time. That’s why it’s considered to be one of the cleanest chemicals. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) targets a wide range of pathogens, making it a powerful tool for disease-control and disinfection in traditional aquaculture. But its use in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) is generally limited to surface disinfection or very low application rates for disease control. That’s because it can persist in systems long after use, negatively impacting biofilters’ nitrifying bacteria. BioRas® Balance accelerates the natural breakdown of H2O2, eliminating all residuals in less than 10 minutes. That means you can use higher concentrations of H2O2 for rapid, effective disinfection protocols, with no impact on biofilter stability.

After H2O2 was applied to the system initial H2O2 measurement was taken to confirm the starting concentration.  The H2O2 was then allowed to remain present in the system for 70mins at which time a second H2O2 measurement was taken to confirm H2O2 stability.  After the second measurement, BioRas® Balance was added to the system.

How to use

BioRas® Balance should be applied to the same area that was treated with hydrogen peroxide.  To maximize hydrogen peroxide degradation by the enzyme, it can be poured directly into the system with good mixing.  

Safety, handling and storage

Enzymes are proteins. Inhalation of dust or aerosols may induce sensitization and may cause allergic reactions in sensitized individuals. Some enzymes may irritate the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes upon prolonged contact. See the Safety data sheet for further information regarding safe handling of the product and spills.

Recommended storage:  
Store at 0-25 °C (32-77 °F). Packaging must be kept intact, dry, and away from sunlight. Please follow the recommendations and use the product before the best-before date to avoid the need for a higher dosage.  

Best before:  
You will find the best-before date in the certificate of analysis or on the product label. The product gives optimal performance when stored as recommended and used prior to the best-before date. Novozymes guarantees delivery at least 6 months prior to the best-before date.
