Key Benefits Description
  • Fiber savings

This product improves the bonding and strengthening potential of fiber. This upgrading allows you to replace costly fibers with more economical ones. It also allows you to lightweight; meet end-product performance specifications with less fiber. By allowing you to increase the share of fillers in your final products, it enables reduced fiber use.
  • Dewatering effect

Recycled fibers contain high levels of cellulosic fragments, microfines and loose fibrils. These increase total surface area, hindering dewatering and leading to operational bottlenecks. This product targets and breaks down the cellulose components of this fraction. That means you get more efficient dewatering and smoother operations, while still meeting your end-product specifications.
  • Increased production

Paper and board machine speed is limited by water removal. This product enhances the rate and extent of water release during formation and pressing. That means an increase in sheet solids and a reduction in dryer section steam needs. The result is greater operational flexibility and productivity.
  • Refining energy savings

Energy-intensive mechanical action during pulp refining develops properties needed for better fiber bonding. This product enhances fiber's response to refining and reduces the energy needed to meet strength specifications in paper and board. It also helps debottleneck your refining step.
  • Chemical savings

This product improves the runnability and strengthening potential of fiber. That means it may complement, reduce the need for, or even replace common chemistries. These include starch, dewatering aids, strength resins and debonders.

Through enhanced dewatering, FiberCare® D delivers a range of process benefits and cost savings. These include increased production and energy and fiber savings.

How cellulases improve dewatering of recycled furnishes

Cellulosic fragments, microfines and loose fibrils hinder dewatering in recycled fibers.  A rational cellulase blend breaks them down to improve dewatering.

Recovered fiber usually has high levels of cellulosic fragments, microfines and loose fibrils. These increase the pulp's total surface area. A larger surface area means greater water absorption. That creates dewatering challenges in formation, pressing and drying. That's why processing recycled furnishes can be challenging.

The right multi-component cellulase blend targets and breaks down these small cellulosic components. It also leads to faster, better  dewatering on paper or board machines. That means you get more efficient dewatering and smoother operations, while still meeting your end-product specifications.
